How to Get Rid of Horseflies Around the Swimming Pool
You want your pool clean all the time, so if horse flies are ruining the party, here are ways to fix the problem.
1. Hang a flypaper
Unravel the flypaper and hang it somewhere around the pool. The hanging strips will trap horseflies and other flying insects. Make sure to replace it when it gets crowded.
2. Light traps
Horseflies get zapped in and instantly die when they come in contact with this trap. Place one or more of these light traps around the swimming pool and wait for them to get to work.
3. Bag traps
This is one of the most effective ways of getting rid of horseflies. It comprises a bag holding food and a funnel into which these flies enter but can’t leave. It however has a pungent smell so it’s advisable to ensure it’s distant from the swimming pool or areas with people.
4. Horsefly traps
They are large traps with moving parts that are specifically designed to attract horseflies. The trap is metallic and easily gets sun heated. When the horseflies land, they get trapped and die because of the heat. Expose your trap to intense sunlight for maximum results.
Horseflies bites are awful, itchy, and leave you with red, swollen skin. They take a long time to heal and their symptoms include dizziness or weakness, wheezing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty in breathing, tongue and throat swelling.
