How to Get Rid of Tomato Hornworms
Tomato Hornworms are pests that will eat and destroy several things in your garden. They eat plants, tomato plants, eggplants, peppers, and even potatoes. They will eat the entire plant up to their stem and destroy vegetables if left alone, which is one of the many reasons they are highly undesirable to have around any garden. They can also reproduce reasonably fast, so dealing with them as soon as you spot the problem is necessary.
There are several methods to get rid of Tomato Hornworms and prevent them from coming back. Here are some natural ways to do it yourself at home:
1. Spray them. Mix warm water with dish soap into a spray and cover the plants with it on all sides. Adding cayenne pepper to the mix aids in preventing them from returning.
2. Handpick them. These bugs are big, so it’s not hard to spot them when looking closely, and since they are harmless to us, simply picking them off of the plants is a safe bet. After picking them, dropping them into hot water mixed with soap will kill them.
3. Encourage natural predators. Beneficial insects like the Ladybugs and Lacewings love eating their larvae.
