Essential Oils for Getting Rid of Cockroaches

Essential Oil

Cockroaches are among the most undesirable pests to have inside a house, as they are incredibly resilient and hard to catch. But thanks to studies and science, some essential oils were proven to be extremely effective against roaches, giving people the option to fight against them without toxic chemicals. Oils such as mint, peppermint, oregano, catnip, and rosemary are great options, though they may vary in their efficiency. Just keep in mind that concentration levels above 3 to 5% are required to be effective.

Using essential oils to repel or kill cockroaches is an excellent alternative to toxic chemicals, as it’s a natural way to fight back against them while leaving a delightful fragrance around your home. But if you have a big enough infestation, these won’t be enough by themselves. You’ll have to locate their food source and eliminate it entirely while cleaning up the area to get rid of any hiding and nesting spots for them.

When applying any essential oils, mix them with vinegar or water to create a strong solution easier to handle and more cost-efficient than directly applying the oil, then spray them around your home.
