3 Natural Ways to Clean Outdoor Patio Furniture & Cushions

Baking Soda Patio Furniture

It’s important to clean your outdoor patio furniture, especially after a long winter, to keep them in good shape. Here are three natural ways to clean outdoor patio furniture.

How to Clean Outdoor Patio Furniture

1. Wipe with Vinegar and Warm Water
Create a homemade cleaning solution by mixing one cup of vinegar with a gallon of warm water. Apply the vinegar solution on the outdoor furniture with a soft brush. Let the solution sit for about ten minutes before you rinse it with water.

The acidic property of the vinegar is what makes it a good natural cleaner. This cleaning solution works well for wooden and plastic patio furniture.

2. Use Dish Detergent for Stained Cushions
This method can be used for outdoor patio cushions that don’t have removable covers. In a container, create a mixture that contains 1 quart of warm water, 1 teaspoon of dish detergent, and 1 tablespoon of borax.

Dip a sponge or old rag in the solution then use it to scrub the patio cushions on all sides. Let the solution soak in the cushion for about ten minutes before you rinse with a high-pressure garden hose. This will help with removing the detergent residue.

3. Scrub Furniture with Baking Soda
Use a water-baking soda mix to wash off patio furniture. Wet a sponge in warm water then dip it into some baking soda. Start wiping the furniture stain with the sponge using a circular motion.
