Can You Compost Garden Weeds?

Garden Weed Compost

Garden weeds can be used as compost but only under the right circumstances. Garden weeds would be considered green compost ingredients (source of nitrogen). You have to be careful because the last thing you would want is for the weeds to infest the garden bed.

If you plan on using garden weeds then make sure it’s placed in a hot compost. This can be achieved by turning the compost on a regular basis. A well-maintained hot compost pile will kill the weeds and prevent them from growing again in the future.
