Can You Compost Plain Paper & Printed Paper?

Plain Paper Compost

Yes, both plain paper and printed paper can be used as compost ingredients. Paper would be considered a brown compost matter (source of carbon).

For printed paper, don’t worry too much about the ink. These days, printer ink is either water-based or soy-based so there should very little concerns about its toxicity level and the impact it may have on the quality of the compost. Make sure you shred the paper into smaller pieces before they are dumped into the compost heap.
