Can You Compost Avocados?

Yes, the delicious avocados you use to make guacamole and other fantastic food dishes can be used as composting ingredients. Avocados would be considered green composting ingredients (source of nitrogen).

Both the avocado skin and pit are made of tough materials so you may want to cut them into smaller pieces to speed up the composting process. Avocado pits aren’t the easiest things to chop so be careful when using a knife.
